Campus recipients of ACAC annual awards

Members of the campus community will receive awards from the Ames Community Arts Council Sunday, June 27, during a 1:30 p.m. celebration on the Stephens Auditorium front lawn. All are welcome. Those being honored include:

  • Jennifer Drinkwater, assistant professor of arts and culture and community arts specialist for ISU Extension and Outreach, will receive the Bill Pelz Arts Advocacy Award for successful efforts to use art as a vehicle for community and economic development and bond diverse local communities.
  • The Student Union Board's M-Shop and performing arts student committees will share the Lemonade-from-Lemons Award for thinking creatively to provide virtual event options and safe live performances for audiences while creating opportunities for local musicians and comedians to perform.
  • Jordan Brooks, director of equity, inclusion and multicultural student success, College of Design, will receive the Art Educator Award (secondary education) for his efforts to merge his degrees in art, counseling and higher education to share inclusive practices. In addition to his DEI work, he uses his artist skills to support others in their creative journeys.
