Rosentrater receives ethanol industry excellence award

Kurt Rosentrater, associate professor in agricultural and biosystems engineering, is the 2021 recipient of BBI International's Award of Excellence, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the U.S. fuel ethanol industry through their research, technical, advisory or development activities. Over two decades, Rosentrater's research has improved industry use of distillers grains coproducts. Specifically, it improved material handing and storage of distillers grains. Rosentrater also serves as executive director and CEO of the Distillers Grains Technology Council. BBI International produces bioenergy trade publications, including Biomass and Biodiesel magazines.

Kevin Schalinske begins four-year leadership term for international society

Kevin Schalinske, professor in the food science and human nutrition department, begins serving as vice president-elect of the 2021-22 board of directors for the American Society for Nutrition on July 1. This is the first of four consecutive one-year terms as the board's vice president-elect, vice president, president and past president. Schalinske has been a member of the society since 1994 and served in various volunteer leadership positions, most recently as secretary on the board of directors. He also is a faculty member in ISU's interdepartmental graduate programs in toxicology and in molecular, cell and developmental biology.
