Cagley's design firm wins three Hospy Awards

Cagley & Tanner, a design firm co-owned by Lee Cagley, professor and chair of the Iowa State interior design department, won three 2012 Hospy Awards from NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network. These include best casino space for the Sky Gaming Salon and best pool area, both at Crown Metropol Perth, Australia, and best landscape/interiorscape for the Sky Garden, Revel Resort, Atlantic City, N.J. The Revel Sky Garden also won the 2011-2012 Global Gaming Expo Casino Design Award for best casino resort landscape design in October.

Retallick receives national teaching award

Michael Retallick, ISU agricultural education and studies, received the New Teacher Award from the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities during the group's annual meeting earlier this month. Retallick was one of two recipients of the New Teacher Award, which honors college and university instructors (with seven or less years of experience in higher education) who demonstrate a commitment to a career in teaching and exhibit meritorious teaching. 

Wilson earns inaugural online teaching award

Lester Wilson, University Professor of food science and human nutrition, is the recipient of the first Ag Online Teacher of the Year Award from ISU's Brenton Center of Agricultural Instruction and Technology. The award was developed to recognize ISU faculty who excel in online teaching. Nine faculty members were nominated by their online students and Brenton Center staff narrowed the field to three finalists. Comments from department chairs about the three finalists influenced the final selection.
