Lawrence-Dill named to national board
Carolyn Lawrence-Dill, associate dean of research and discovery for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and associate director of the Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station, has joined the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research's board of directors. Through collaboration and public-private partnerships, the foundation funds food and agriculture challenges for the benefit of farmers, consumers and the environment. The foundation was established in the 2014 Farm Bill to complement the U.S. Department of Agriculture's research goals.
Crespi receives Pomerantz endowment support
Professor of economics John Crespi has received the Marvin A. Pomerantz Endowment for Faculty Enrichment award for FY23. Established in 1992 and administered by the provost's office, the endowment award provides additional support for faculty who are deemed outstanding in their teaching, research and outreach. Recipients rotate among Iowa State's seven colleges each year.
LAS' STEM Scholars program makes national list
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' STEM Scholars program received a 2022 "Inspiring Program in STEM" award (see p. 61) from "Insight into Diversity," a magazine that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education. ISU's office of diversity, equity and inclusion nominated the program for the honor, which each year recognizes colleges, universities and organizations that have established cutting-edge programs, events and initiatives devoted to improving diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM. The LAS college's STEM Scholars program stands out because "membership does not include GPA or ACT/SAT requirements, which have historically placed underrepresented students at a disadvantage," according to the publication.
Finance service delivery model receives 'best practices' award
Iowa State's finance service delivery teams model, implemented in July 2019, received a second place award in the Central Association of College and University Business Officers' 2022 Best Practices recognition program. The program recognizes innovative approaches to addressing challenges facing higher education business operations. Customer service surveys from the third quarter of FY22, sent to finance delivery users following requests submitted, indicated 95% of respondents were satisfied and 98% said their concern was accurately addressed. And a survey of employees working in finance delivery returned an average engagement score of 4.22 (on a five-point scale).

"The Crucible" and "John Proctor is the Villain," will run in tandem during two weekends, April 18-28, at Fisher Theater.
