In their can't-miss orange safety vests, 450 returning Iowa State students arrived early in Ames to help families move their first-year students into the residence halls Aug. 19-20. Destination Iowa State events for new-to-Iowa State students begin Thursday, Aug. 21, and overlap with Welcome Weekend events for all students on Friday and Saturday.
The residence halls opened Aug. 21 for returning students who didn't need to be on campus early for activities such as sorority recruiting, new student move-in or marching band auditions.
