Presidential installation set for Sept. 14

The celebratory installation of Steven Leath as Iowa State's 15th president will take place Friday morning, Sept. 14. The event will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Stephens Auditorium and will be followed immediately by a reception.

"Invitations will be sent out closer to the event," said Olivia Madison, chair of the presidential installation planning committee and dean of the library. "But we wanted to get this date on everyone's calendar. We hope faculty and staff will join us in the celebration and encourage colleagues, friends and students to experience this historic event."

Other installation events on Sept. 13 will include:

  • A student celebration (noon-2 p.m., central campus)
  • A public lecture by Erskine Bowles, former president of the University of North Carolina system and White House chief of staff for Bill Clinton (8 p.m., location will be announced). Mr. Bowles will also formally introduce President Leath during his installation ceremony.
