It's a third honor at regional festival for Petefish-Schrag

"Of the Deep: Meditations on the Death of a Blue Whale," a series of short shadow puppet films, is one of 12 productions selected for showcase at the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, held virtually Jan. 16-24. It marks the third year in a row an ISU Theatre production directed by associate professor Amanda Petefish-Schrag has been selected. Petefish-Schrag's previous shows, "Iphigenia" and "Iowa Odyssey (or How We Got to Here?)" were 2019 and 2020 regional selections, respectively, and both went on to earn national Kennedy Center honors.

Schaefer receives innovation award

Vernon Schaefer, professor in civil, construction and environmental engineering, received the 2021 Wallace Hayward Baker Award from the Geo-Institute. The award recognizes ingenious innovation in the field of ground modification. Schaefer's work focuses on promoting and conducting soil improvement technologies and developing the GeoTech Tools as a comprehensive, systematic selection tool. The Geo-Institute is a membership organization focused on geoprofessionals and the geo-industry. It was created by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1996 as one of its specialty institutes.
