The search opened this week for Iowa State's next associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students.
The student affairs division's other associate vice presidents, Erin Baldwin (student health and wellness) and Joe Paulick (campus life), are leading a search committee of campus members. The executive search firm Spelman Johnson is assisting the search committee.
Senior vice president for student affairs Toyia Younger said the intent is to conduct on-campus interviews with finalists in April to include student input, with the successful candidate starting in the post sometime this summer.
The dean of students office encompasses 13 departments and three programs supporting student success, community building and well-being. Former dean of students Sharron Evans left the university last month to serve as vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Associate dean of students for academic and student success Kipp Van Dyke is serving in an interim role.
