Goche receives educator award
Peter Goche, a senior lecturer in architecture, received the 2013 Educator Award from the Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Sept. 26 at the AIA Iowa annual convention in Des Moines.
American Chemical Society names Greenbowe an ACS Fellow
Thomas Greenbowe, chemistry professor, has been named as an ACS Fellow. “This is an honor bestowed on members for their outstanding accomplishments in scientific research, education, and public service,” said Shakhashiri in announcing the 2013 class of ACS Fellows. “Their individual contributions to ACS, to science, and to society are hallmarks of distinction in keeping with the ACS mission of advancing the chemical enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people.”
Gschneidner wins Acta Materialia Materials and Society Award
Karl Gschneidner, senior metallurgist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory, has been named the winner of the 2014 Acta Materialia Materials and Society Award. The award honors scientists who have made a major positive impact on society through materials science.
Hogberg elected to association Hall of Fame
Maynard Hogberg, chair of the department of animal science, was inducted into the Iowa Poultry Association's Hall of Fame, in recognition of distinguished service to the Iowa poultry industry.
White recognized for achievement in cereal science
Pamela White, dean of Iowa State University’s College of Human Sciences, has been named a 2013 fellow by AACC International (AACCI). Its Fellows Program honors members who have made distinguished contributions to the field through research, industrial achievement, leadership, education, administration, communication, or regulatory affairs.
Johnson elected to serve as vice chair of ACSFA
Roberta Johnson, director of student financial aid, has been appointed to a one-year term as vice chair of the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance.
Anderson receives two awards
Ryan Anderson, assistant professor in agricultural education and studies, received two awards this summer. Anderson was selected as a 2013 Iowa regional and national winner of the Ideas Unlimited award from the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE). He also was named Outstanding Career and Technical Educator of the year by the Iowa Association for Career and Technical Education. The Ideas Unlimited award is designed to give NAAE members an opportunity to exchange useful and innovative teaching ideas. Submissions are judged on their originality, practicality, adaptability and instructional value. The Iowa Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award Anderson received recognizes individuals who are full-time career and technical teacher educators, administrators, career and technical guidance counselors, program specialists and other individuals.
Arts and events
