Jiles named Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales

David Jiles, Palmer Endowed Chair of the department of electrical and computer engineering, is among the new Fellows elected to the Learned Society of Wales in 2016. LSW Fellows are distinguished men and women from all branches of learning who are prominent figures within their respective academic disciplines or professions. 

Tesfagiorgis receives AAUDE service award

Gebre Tesfagiorgis, director of institutional research, recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE). The award recognizes Tesfagiorgis' service to the association.

Rajala receives national engineer of the year award

Sarah Rajala, dean of the College of Engineering, has been named national engineer of the year by the American Association of Engineering Societies, which represents 17 multidisciplinary engineering societies from industry, government and academia. The AAES national engineer of the year award recognizes Rajala’s outstanding service in three key areas: inspirational leadership at the institutional, national and international levels; innovations in engineering education and assessment; and  her tireless efforts to promote diversity in the engineering field.

Wiegand receives national public works award

Paul Wiegand, director of the Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications program for the Institute for Transportation, was named one of 10 "Public Works Leaders of the Year" by the American Public Works Association. The award recognizes leaders with a professional history that's dedicated to "sustaining the structures that form the foundation of our communities."

Learning communities program honors exemplary mentors

ISU's learning communities program honored 20 student peer mentors and 10 peer mentor supervisors during a recognition ceremony on March 30. The peer mentors and mentor supervisors were recognized for setting positive examples for learning community students and their support of the university's academic goals.

Nolan receives distinguished alumni award

Dr.  Lisa Nolan, the Dr. Stephen G. Juelsgaard Dean of Veterinary Medicine, recently received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. The award recognizes service to the college and the veterinary profession.
