Shearer receives dairy award

Jan Shearer, a professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine and extension veterinarian, received the 2015 DeLaval Dairy Extension Award from the American Dairy Science Association. Presented annually, the award recognizes outstanding achievements in dairy extension. Shearer’s research and extension focuses are lameness and welfare issues of cattle.

Kress receives Spirit of Crazy Horse Award

Cathann Kress, vice president for extension and outreach, received the 2015 Spirit of Crazy Horse Award from Reclaiming Youth International and the Starr Global Learning Network. Kress joins a long list of leaders in research, policy and practice whose contributions have advanced work with children and youth. The award is a Lakota star quilt.

Lucht earns Rising Scholar award

Tracy Lucht, assistant professor in the Greenlee School of Journalism, has received the Rising Scholar award from the American Journalism Historians Association. The award provides research support up to $2,000 for a junior faculty member not yet tenured.
